I think the perception of mobile phones by many as being invasive, distracting and as having no educational value is widespread - particularly from older generations. I did some staff develoment at a college on using sms for teaching and assessment and the staff were terrified that the learners would text each other - they were't impressed when I said, so what - they talk to each other in class don't they? Anyway without a massive rant - that's my elephant - perception and fear! NB in the session mentioned above it took the staff about 15 minutes to answer quiz questions that kids can do in about 2!
